LOS ANGELES, Aug. 11 (UPI) — Thomas Gibson has been suspended from “Criminal Minds” after reportedly getting into an on-set altercation with a writer.

According to TMZ, the longtime series actor, who portrays special agent Aaron Hotchner on the CBS crime drama, got into a creative dispute with a writer that ended with Gibson kicking the writer in the leg.

ABC Studios and CBS TV Studios, who produce “Criminal Minds,” immediately suspended Gibson from acting with Deadline noting he will most likely miss out on one to two episodes as production on Season 12 is underway. Gibson will also potentially be denied directing duties on a future episode as he has done in the past.

“There were creative differences on the set and a disagreement. I regret that it occurred. We all want to work together as a team to make the best show possible. We always have and always will,” Gibson noted in a statement to TMZ.

Gibson has starred on “Criminal Minds” since the series’ debut in 2005.
