‘Three Billboards,’ ‘Lady Bird’ win big at the Golden Globes

Jan. 8 (UPI) — “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” collaborators Frances McDormandMartin McDonagh and Sam Rockwell took home Golden Globes in Los Angeles Sunday night.

McDormand garnered the honor for Best Actress in a Drama, McDonagh won for Best Screenplay and Rockwell picked up the prize for Best Supporting Actor. The film was also voted Best Drama Film.

James Franco was deemed Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for “The Disaster Artist” and Saoirse Ronan won the the statuette for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for her work in the evening’s Best Musical or Comedy Film winner “Lady Bird.”

Guillermo del Toro earned the Globe for Best Director for “The Shape of Water,” which won for Best Original Score, as well.

Gary Oldman was named Best Actor in a Drama for “Darkest Hour” and Allison Janney won the Best Supporting Actress trophy for “I, Tonya.”

“Coco” was declared Best Animated Movie and “In the Fade” won for Best Foreign Language Film. The Best Original Song title went to “This is Me” from “The Greatest Showman.”
