LIVINGSTON, Montana, May 14, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Margot Kidder, the actress who played Lois Lane in “Superman” films, died Sunday in Montana, TMZ reported Monday morning.
Kidder passed away at her home in Montana, according to a spokesperson at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home in Livingston, TMZ said. At this time her cause of death is not known.
Kidder appeared with Christopher Reeve in four “Superman” films from 1978 to 87 as journalist Lane. She also starred alongside Peter O’Toole in a 1983 TV production of George Bernard Shaw’s “Pygmalion,” and would later appear in the TV “Superman” prequel “Smallville.”
Kidder was diagnosed with bipolar disorder after a manic episode in 1996, in which she was found in a disorientated state, and said she was living homeless in Los Angeles. She later used her public profile to raise awareness about the condition, and became an advocate for alternative medicine.
Kidder was married three times and is survived by a daughter, Maggie.
Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced.
