The latest estimates for Memorial Day weekend show a lackluster turn at the box office.

“Tomorrowland” debuted in first place with $32.9 million dollars. The Disney fantasy film stars George Clooney and underperformed initial expectations. Experts predicted a $40.7 million dollar weekend for the new film.

In second place was “Pitch Perfect 2” in its second week out. The sequel to “Pitch Perfect” still held firm grossing $30.8 million dollars bringing its total take to $109.5 million dollars in two weeks.

“Mad Max: Fury Road” drives into 3rd place. It raced home and additional $24.8 million, giving the reboot of the “Mad Max” franchise $88.2 million in total revenue for its two-week run.

Tied for 4th place, “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” and the just released remake of “Poltergeist” at $22 million dollars. “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” passed the billion dollar mark world-wide last week.

Finally, in 5th place it’s “The Age of Adaline.” The Blake Lively romance film did $15 million in new business, bringing its total take to $39.9 million dollars in its 5 week run.

Of course box office numbers can change.
