HOLLYWOOD, March 21, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — As predicted, “Zootopia” keeps its lead over the other films for another week.

Coming in with an estimated total of $38.0 million dollars, the animated film has a three-week total of $201.8 million.

In second place is “Allegiant,” the third film in the “Divergent” series. The dystopian action film opened with just over $29 million.

Box Office Mojo is calling the lower-than-expected debut a “troubling drop,” comparing “Allegiant”‘s 48 percent drop in sales to the franchise’s first two releases (“Divergent” and “Insurgent”), both of which opened with over $52 million on the same weekend in 2014 and 2015.”

The final chapter of the film series, “Ascendant,” will be in theaters June 9, 2017.

In the third spot, with a five-day total of $18.5 million (the film opened Wednesday), is “Miracles from Heaven,” starring Jennifer Garner. Producers are praying the ‘faith-based’ film has the legs to sustain tickets sales throughout the Easter weekend.

“10 Cloverfield Lane” drops from second place to fourth place, taking in an estimated $12.0 million over the weekend. The John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead sci-fi/thriller has a two-week total of $45.1 million.

Rounding out the top five box office films, “Deadpool” keeps cranking out money. The film took in another $8 million its sixth weekend in release. The Ryan Reynolds R-rated superhero movie has a worldwide tally of $730.6 million.

The weekend tally has elevated “Deadpool” to eighth highest grossing superhero movie domestically, passing both “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Spider-Man 3,” according to Box Office Mojo.
