ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Feb. 23 (UPI) — Weird Al Yankovic announced Tuesday he will be hitting the road again to resume his popular concert series, the Mandatory World Tour.
Adding 79 more performances to the tour across the United States and Canada, Yankovic will begin the second leg of his tour on June 3 in St. Petersburg, Fla. and will end it Sept. 24 in New York City.
“I’ve decided to do the Mandatory World Tour for one more year, after learning that some people didn’t make it out to the show this last time around. Apparently, they don’t know the meaning of the word ‘mandatory’!!” the comedic musician said in a statement.
The tour follows Yankovic’s latest Grammy Award-winning album “Mandatory Fun” which was the first comedy album in more than 50 years to place No. 1 on the Billboard charts. The release featured Yankovic parodying hit songs from Pharrell Williams, Robin Thicke, Iggy Azalea, Lorde and Imagine Dragons among others.
