LOGAN, Utah, Feb. 1, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — One man is dead and a second is in custody after a pre-dawn shooting in Logan.

Capt. Tyson Budge, Logan Police Department, told Gephardt Daily that the shooting happened at about 6:30 a.m. in the 200 block of Riverbend Road.

“There’s an adult male, deceased, and an adult male in custody,” Budge said. “There are quite a few people in the apartment, and we are still trying to figure out relationships.”

Residents include two women, ages 28 and 53, and four children younger than age 7. The man who died from one or more gunshot wounds was 23.

The shooter, age 26, did not live in the apartment, Budge said, but was related to those who did. A later statement from the Logan Police Department said the suspected shooter was cooperating with police.

The women performed CPR on the man in an attempt to save him, the statement says. Police took over after arrival, then paramedics also attempted life-saving efforts, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man’s name is not yet being released because his relatives are still being notified, the statement says.

The public is not in danger, Budge said.

“We got all the players that were involved.”
