UPDATE: Suspect In Holladay Father, Son Shooting Arrested

Unified Police Department has arrested 19-year-old Damian Garcia in connection with a shooting at a Holladay apartment complex early Saturday morning that left one dead.

SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, May 25, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Unified Police officials have arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with a shooting at a Holladay apartment complex early Saturday morning that left one dead.

Damian Garcia was arrested in connection with the shooting death of Darrin Jackson, 46, of Holladay, according to a UPD news release.

Darrin Jackson’s son, Jonathan Jackson, 26, was also shot during the incident at Hidden Meadows Apartments. He is expected to recover.

Garcia was arrested Tuesday night without incident after detectives learned of his involvement in the fight at the apartment. Garcia was interviewed and admitted to firing a gun at the victims, resulting in the death of Darrin Jackson and the injury of Jonathan Jackson.

UPD spokesman Lt. Lex Bell said between 2 a.m and 2:30 a.m., six or seven people were at a party in an apartment at the complex located at 1821 E. Hidden Meadows Drive.

Bell said those people were confronted by a group of seven to nine others who showed up at the apartment.

A physical altercation broke out, and a shots-fired call came in to police at approximately 2:30 a.m. Darrin Jackson, a resident of the apartment, was shot and killed at the scene.

Bell said the seven to nine people who showed up second fled the apartment.

When police came, the people on scene were separated and police tried to interview them. Bell said there was initially not much cooperation from potential witnesses, but three witnesses then picked the arrested party on three separate photo lineups as the male involved in the incident.

Garcia since admitted he was part of a group involved in an aggravated burglary.

Anyone who has further information is asked to call the UPD at 801-743-7000.

  1. I have a friiend who’s daughter was having a party last Oct. the person who shot and killed Darrin Jackson arrived at the party uninvited. The group got unruly and the daughter asked them to leave.

This same 19 year old gang member punched her in the face, knocking her teeth out. Her brother jumped in to protect his sister from further harm, he was stabbed in the stomach. Sandy police were called, the officer who showed up kicked in the door of the family “Victims” door. The mother who I’m not naming on here was thrown to the ground by the investigating officer, his excuse for doing so made no sense other than covering up his own unruly attitude towards others in the house

To make a long story short, since October she tried to get Sandy City Police to file charges with the ,DA’s office, against the person who knocked out her daughters teeth and stabbed her son…for whatever reason they refused to do so and a person is dead by the same hand that so viciously attacked her family.

    Their reasons;

    She was uncoperative
Statute of limitations had passed…. on attempted murder?
It is a civil matter, really?

The list goes on, including harrasment by the police… Heres a classic case of police agencies trying to wash ineptness under the table.

Darrin Jackson was mudered by the same person who stabbed her, son, and assaulted her daughter. Why was he really not prosecuted???
