SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah, Feb. 12, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A man has died and a woman was transported to the hospital following a crash at 4639 S. Redwood Road (Mile Marker 25) on Monday afternoon.

Saratoga Springs Police Chief Andrew Burton told Gephardt Daily the accident happened at about 3:30 p.m. when, for an unknown reason, a full-size pickup truck heading north on Redwood Road went out of control and struck a power pole and transformer.

The adult male in the truck died at the scene, Burton said, and the woman in the truck was transported to the hospital in serious but stable condition.

Redwood Road has been shut down in both directions while the scene is investigated and cleared.

In a  Facebook post, police clarified the location, saying, “This is at the south end of the city, south of Harbor Parkway.”

Burton said the road would probably be closed until about 7 p.m. or a little later.

Rocky Mountain Power crews were called to the scene to remove downed lines.

The police department’s Major Accident Team is conducting the investigation.

Burton said very little information is currently available, but officials are hoping to learn more about what happened when they are able to speak with the woman who was injured in the crash.

They also hope to talk with anyone who may have witnessed the accident.

Gephardt Daily will update this story as more information becomes available.
