LAYTON, Utah, June 7, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Police in Layton are investigating a Thursday night double shooting which left one man dead and another wounded.
First responders were dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of Kirk Street at 11:33 p.m.
When police arrived, they found one man dead behind the home with at least one gunshot wound to the chest.
A second man was found at the scene with a reported gunshot wound to the hand. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police have yet to reveal a motive in the case, but did tell Salt Lake media outlets there was no apparent threat to the public.
Charges in the case had yet to be filed as of Friday night.
