One man is dead after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 in Box Elder County Thursday morning.

BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah, Jan. 11, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Highway patrol has released the name of a man killed in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 in Box Elder County Thursday morning.

The victim is Richard L. Mckay, 69, of Millcreek.

McKay’s gray Toyota Camry was northbound on I-15 near exit 363, near Brigham City, at approximately 6:15 a.m., the Utah Highway Patrol said in a news release.

“The driver crossed through the gore area after the off-ramp divided from the freeway,” the news release said. “As the Camry crossed the gore area, it struck a delineator post, crossed the off-ramp travel lane, and went off the right side of the roadway.”

The gore is the grassy area that starts just beyond the exit sign.

The Camry then went down a slight decline, hit a small ditch and fence, and rolled multiple times.

McKay was wearing a seatbelt but was partially ejected. He died on scene due to injuries sustained during the crash. He was alone in the car.
