Update: 1 dead in crash on SR-191 near Vernal identified

VERNAL, Utah, July 30, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — One person was killed and two others were seriously injured in a crash on State Route 191 near Vernal on Saturday.

According to a news release from Utah Highway Patrol, a 2015 Nissan was southbound on SR-191 when it crossed the center median and struck a northbound motor home that was towing a vehicle.

The driver of the Nissan died at the scene. She has been identified as Tierra Williams, 21, from McKinnon, Wyoming.

Four people were in the motor home. The driver had minor injuries. A female passenger was transported to Ashley Valley Medical Center in serious condition, and a 94-year-old woman was flown in critical condition to University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City.

A male minor passenger in the motor home was not injured, the release states.

Traffic was closed for about 30 minutes when the helicopter landed.

A wrecker was summoned from Rock Springs, and officials anticipated being on the scene well into Saturday night.
