BRIGHAM CITY, Utah, May 25, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — One person was killed and two are in critical condition after a crash on southbound Interstate 15 near Brigham City.
A single vehicle was traveling southbound in the area of mile post 365 in Box Elder County just after 5 p.m. when it left the roadway and struck a pole, Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Chris Bishop told Gephardt Daily.
One occupant was killed in the crash; at this time it is not clear if that person was the driver or a passenger, Bishop said, and two other occupants were airlifted to area hospitals with critical injuries.
He added that at this early stage it appears the vehicle may have swerved to miss some debris that was in the roadway and the driver lost control.
As of 7:15 p.m., southbound I-15 is closed in that area while the crash is investigated.
At 7 p.m., UHP tweeted: “Troopers are currently investigating multiple major crashes throughout the state this evening including a fatal crash in Box Elder County on I-15 at mile post 365.”
Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
