LAKE POWELL, Utah, July 13, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Authorities have identified the victim of a deadly houseboat explosion as Kirsten Meyer, of Castle Rock, Colo.

Witnesses say Meyer, 52, was attempting to start a generator when it exploded at about 10 p.m. Wednesday in Crystal Springs Canyon, which is near Bullfrog Marina.

Five others were injured, four of them critically. The four were flown to hospitals in Salt Lake City and Grand Junction, Colo. Their injuries included burns, broken bones, and facial injuries.

The person with lesser injuries, a juvenile male, was treated at the nearby Bullfrog Clinic, and was released.

About 20 other people were on the houseboat, according to a prepared statement from the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office and the National Park Service.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing, according to the statement. Meyer’s body was taken to the Utah Medical Examiner’s Office, in Salt Lake City, for an autopsy.
