1 man dead, 2 injured after ATV accident at Flaming Gorge

DAGGETT COUNTY, Utah, Sept. 1, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — One man died and two others were injured on Friday when the ATV they were riding crashed into the Flaming Gorge Reservoir.

According to a statement from Daggett County Sheriff E.L. Bailey, deputies and Search and Rescue personnel arrived at the scene, off County Road 17, after a call at about 7:10 p.m. about an ATV accident with three adults involved.

One of the three was trapped inside the vehicle, a Polaris RZR 4-seater, when it entered the reservoir.

“Sheriff’s deputies and search and rescue personnel attempted to extricate the passenger for over 30 minutes,” a statement from Bailey says.

“The passenger was extricated and pronounced deceased on scene by medical personnel. The driver and one other passenger were taken by medical helicopter to hospitals in Ogden and Salt Lake City. Condition of transported individuals is unknown at present time.”

The victim’s name has not been released yet, pending notification of family members.
