BEAVER, Utah, July 25, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A 16-year-old driver was airlifted to hospital after a rollover crash on southbound Interstate 15 near Beaver Thursday morning.

Utah Highway Patrol said in a news release that at approximately 4:40 a.m. a gray Nissan Rogue, driven by an unlicensed 16-year-old male, was traveling southbound on I-15 near mile post 98.

“The passenger, a 24-year-old male, stated they were traveling 100 miles per hour when the vehicle left the roadway,” the news release said. “The vehicle climbed the embankment and rolled as it contacted the freeway fence. The vehicle rolled several times.”

The driver was not restrained and was completely ejected from the vehicle. The driver sustained severe, non-life threatening injuries.

The passenger was properly restrained and received only minor injuries. Both occupants were transported by ambulance to Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City. The driver was then airlifted to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George.
