Update: Woman suspect arrested in Capitol Hill murder; victim’s name released by SLCPD

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Dec. 17, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman whose body was found in her home Saturday afternoon in the Capitol Hill area of Salt Lake City has been identified.

Salt Lake City Police Department tweeted Sunday morning the victim is Rose Harris, 54.

SLCPD released a statement late Saturday, saying Sue Hickman, 53, has been arrested and booked into jail for homicide.

The Salt Lake City Police Department tweeted the news of a possible murder in the area of 550 N. Wall Saturday afternoon.

Police told Gephardt Daily officers were called to the scene to perform a welfare check when they found the deceased woman.

According to a probable cause statement released by police, the two co-habited and Hickman called Salt Lake police dispatch asking for a welfare check on Harris.

The statement goes on: “When the dispatcher asked (Hickman) why she was requesting a welfare check, (Hickman) replied ‘I shot her, I did it. She made me snap. I couldn’t take it anymore, her drinking.'”

The report added Hickman admitted her involvement in the case to five different individuals and two Salt Lake police officers.
