BLUFFDALE, UTAH – September 21, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A 12-year-old girl was home alone when a fire broke out inside her family’s Bluffdale home Monday morning.

According to Cpl. Jason Ruch, Bluffdale City Fire Department, a call came in around 10 a.m. in regards to a house fire at 14510 South 3200 West. “When our crews arrived they found a 12-year-old who had been inside the home when she smelled smoke,” said Ruch. “She said she went to the patio and thought she could see fire coming from the garbage can.”

Ruch said the girl then grabbed all her animals and ran to the neighbors who in turn called 911. No-one was injured in the fire.

As of 11 a.m., crews had put out the fire, but continue to put water on any hot spots to prevent further igniting.

City and state investigators are on scene trying to determine a cause and amount of damage.

We will have more information on this developing story as it becomes available.
