
UTAH COUNTY, Utah, July 22, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A 13-year-old boy is dead after a head-on collision on State Route 89 in Utah County Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Baylor Stout, of South Jordan, the Utah Highway Patrol said in a news release.
A 2008 Kia Sedona was traveling southbound on SR-89 at mile marker 305 near Birdseye, just before 8:20 a.m., the news release said.
The Kia drifted into oncoming traffic and hit a 2016 Ford F-150 head-on which was traveling northbound at the same location. The Ford was towing a Razor and dirt bike.
Shortly after, the Ford rolled off the west side of the road.
The single occupant of the Kia, a 31-year-old female, was transported by air to the hospital with serious injuries.
Both occupants of the Ford, a 48-year-old man and his 13-year-old son, were transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital. The man sustained non-life threatening injuries, and the 13-year-old passenger sustained critical injuries. They were transported by ground in order to receive ongoing medical treatment which is not available during flight, the news release said.
The 13-year-old, later identified as Stout, died at the hospital.
All involved parties were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
Drowsy driving is a suspected as a contributing factor to the accident, officials said
