CEDAR CITY, Utah, Sept. 18, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) —  A 13-year-old boy has died after he was struck by a car while playing night games in Cedar City.

The boy was in the area of 2400 W. Cross Hollows Road at about 8:44 p.m. Saturday when he entered the roadway and was struck by a sedan. The boy was transported to Cedar City Hospital, then airlifted to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George.

Sgt. Jerry Womack, Cedar City Police Department, said his office was informed Sunday that the teen had succumbed to his injuries.

Womack said the night games — probably things like hide and seek or tag, he said — were being played by a group including children and adults. They were near a roadway, which has a 45 mph speed limit.

The victim ran into the road and was struck. The driver was alone in the car, and was not injured. The street is in a rural area, and was probably very dark, Womack said.
