GRANTSVILLE, Utah, Sept. 2, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A 14-year-old girl was transported to the hospital by medical helicopter after she was hit by a car while in a cross walk late Sunday afternoon.

A news release from the Grantsville City Police Department said officers were dispatched to the auto-pedestrian accident at Willow and Main streets at about 5:41 p.m. teen’s parents around 10 p.m. and they said she was doing better and was no longer in serious condition, and the prognosis for her recovery is good.

Allred said the accident occurred when a car was stopped in the turning lane waiting for the girl to pass in the cross walk, and the driver of the vehicle that struck her could not see the girl and thought the other car was waiting to make a turn.

The sheriff’s office expressed thanks to the Grantsville City Fire Department, Tooele County Sheriffs Office, Mountain West Ambulance and University of Utah Airmed “for the quick response and hard work” and to “the citizen who was present during the accident and who is an EMT, for their quick actions to help the child who was injured.”
