WILLARD, Utah, Feb. 28, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A 14-year-old boy who was struck on Main Street in Willard Saturday night has died.

A statement by Chief Jean Loveland of the Willard Police Department said that Braxton Phetsysouk passed away just after 4 a.m. Sunday after being hit by a vehicle at about 7 p.m. Saturday night as he and a friend were attempting to cross at 850 N. Main.

Loveland said the boy ran into the path of a black Saturn driven by an 18-year-old male. He was taken by medical helicopter to Primary Children’s Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Loveland indicated that this area of the road is not well lit and there is no crosswalk.

Braxton’s father issued a statement on his Facebook page.
