RIVERTON, Utah. June 5, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) -- A 16-year-old boy is in police custody after allegedly shooting his 35-year-old uncle multiple times Wednesday outside a home in Riverton.
Josh Lee, public information officer for Riverton, told Gephardt Daily that officers were dispatched to the shooting near 13400 Homestead Lane around 6:30 p.m., after the teen and his uncle “had a verbal argument and took it out to the front yard.”
The juvenile suspect then "pulled out a handgun and shot the victim three times, before fleeing the scene," Lee said.
Thanks to a coordinated effort between Herriman, Riverton, South Jordan and Draper PD, officers quickly swarmed the neighborhood and took the 16-year-old into custody, according to Lee.
