WEST JORDAN, UTAH – August 18, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A 17-year-old teen is still listed in critical condition according to West Jordan police after running a red light on Mountain View Corridor Sunday morning.

According to Sgt. Keith Bronson, West Jordan police, the accident happened around 9 a.m. Sunday when the teen failed to stop at a red light as she entered the intersection at 10150 South and collided with an oncoming truck.

Bronson said drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor and they are looking into the possibility that the teen may have been distracted.

“A man riding his bike witnessed the entire accident so we have a good idea of what happened; just don’t really know why at this point due to the victim’s condition,” said Bronson. “She was unconscious when medics arrived and during transport to the hospital.”

The driver of the pickup was not injured and was able to get out of his car on his own.

Police are not releasing the name of the teen at this time.
