ST. GEORGE, Utah, May 23, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — An 18-year-old St. George man was killed and a 16-year-old girl is in critical condition after a single-vehicle rollover on SR-18 early Sunday morning.

A Utah Highway Patrol statement said the accident happened in the northbound lane of SR-18 just before 4 a.m. The driver of a silver Chevy Cobalt—Drex Taylor of St. George—drifted left across the southbound lane and left the roadway.

The vehicle then rotated and slid across the roadway. The vehicle overturned, then rolled back onto the highway and came to rest on its wheels in the southbound travel lane.

Neither occupant of the vehicle was wearing a seat belt, and both were ejected.

Taylor died at the scene. His passenger, a 16-year-old from Veyo, Utah, was flown by Life Flight to Dixie Regional Medical Center in extremely critical condition.

Drugs and alcohol are not being considered as factors and troopers said they believe fatigue contributed to the crash.
