19 year old arrested after alleged Ogden road rage incident involving ‘gun’

OGDEN, Utah, June 5, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A 19-year-old man is in custody after an alleged road rage incident in Ogden.

A probable cause statement from the Second District Court of Ogden said Jeriah Garner was arrested Tuesday and is facing charges of two counts of aggravated assault, a third-degree felony, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a class B misdemeanor.

The arresting officer wrote in the probable cause statement he arrived on the scene while a road rage incident was in progress.

“Both victims in the second vehicle state a male began driving aggressively and pulled a firearm on them while at a traffic light at 5700 S. Harrison Blvd.,” the statement said. “Both victims stated while at the light the subject was screaming something at them and pointed a black handgun at them while at the light.”

The subject subsequently admitted to having a handgun in his possession and then said: “I was moving it around in my car,” the statement said.

Garner was read his Miranda rights, and chose not so speak about the incident any further.

The firearm turned out to be a pellet gun replica of a semi-automatic Beretta.

The suspect was transported to Weber County Jail with his bail set at $10,000.
