2 arrested after early Monday chase in Utah County

Lehi City Police

UTAH COUNTY, Utah, May 22, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A police pursuit early Monday morning ended in Alpine with the arrest of two people.

Lehi Police Lt. Kenny Rose said a 2000 Honda Civic had been stolen out of Sandy four days earlier. When an officer spotted the car at about 12:30 a.m. Monday, the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver and a female passenger fled.

Rose said a 20-minute chase ensued, and the man and woman were taken into custody after they left the car and tried to flee on foot.

Robert Browne, 41, and Veronica Ochoa, 26, both with addresses in Lehi, were arrested and booked into Utah County Jail.

Lt. Rose said although Browne and Ochoa were driving the Honda, it wasn’t immediately known if they were responsible for stealing it; however, they both were wanted on other charges.

The incident was still under investigation later Monday morning because “a lot of new items were in the car,” Rose said, and officials are in the process of determining if the items were stolen.

Rose said a Taser was used to bring Browne into compliance after the pursuit, and “medical checked him out and he was cleared by medical.”
