CEDAR CITY, Utah, Nov. 5, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have two people in custody Sunday afternoon after a Cedar City Walmart was evacuated due to a bomb threat.

Officials said the Walmart at 1330 S. Providence Center Drive, and the surrounding area, were evacuated after a man began screaming that he had a bomb in his car, just after 2:30 p.m.

The Cedar City Police Department said in a Facebook post: “The possibility of it being real is remote, but we have the bomb squad coming from St. George to make sure. We are asking you stay away from the area until it is clear.”

The post goes on to say that traffic was being rerouted north and south at the intersection of Cross Hollows and Royal Hunte Drive, and traffic was being turned around on Cross Hollows eastbound, which is just west of Walmart.

Cedar City Police posted on Twitter that they had lifted the evacuation and no threat was located just before 6 p.m.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information becomes available.
