2 injured, 1 critical after hit by SUV in downtown Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Aug. 14, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman was rushed to the hospital in critical condition late Sunday night after she and a companion were hit by a vehicle near 200 South and State Street.

Salt Lake City Police Watch Commander Victor Siebeneck said the two were with a group of people crossing the street shortly before 11:30 p.m., when a southbound SUV struck them.

The woman, who is in her early 20s, sustained head injuries and was transported to the hospital. The other person who was struck had only minor injuries and remained at the scene.

The driver was the only person in the vehicle.

Siebeneck said the incident is under investigation, and the identities of the parties involved were not being released Sunday night.

  1. Are there any updates to this story? I was crossing the crosswalk a few feet in front of these girls. I didn’t know them but I was there and it was a nightmare. I would love to know if she’s okay.
