WEST JORDAN, Utah, April 2, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A West Jordan man was in the hospital overnight Saturday after an encounter with two men who broke into his home.
Police and fire department personnel responded to the scene at 7487 S. Waterloo Circle (3330 West) a few minutes past midnight after receiving a call about a home invasion.
West Jordan Police Sgt. Chaundra Edmonds told Gephardt Daily that police were able to get only a few details about the incident before the man was transported to the hospital with a “pretty serious head injury.”
Edmonds said everyone in the house was asleep, when the man heard a loud noise. He got up to investigate and found “two darker-complected men” entering the living quarters from the garage.
He told police that when the intruders saw him, one of them said “Oh-oh” and both men turned to go back into the garage.
The homeowner followed them and when he reached the garage, he was hit in the head with a baseball bat.
Edmonds said police planned to interview the homeowner further after doctors finished treating the cut on his head.
No one is in custody at the present time. The case is still under investigation.
