2 middle school students detained after altercation with Salt Lake City police

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, April 10, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Two students were detained after an altercation with Salt Lake City Police officers outside Glendale Middle School Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred in the area of Navajo Street and California Avenue just before 3:20 p.m., the Salt Lake City Police Department said in a news release.

“A group of students from Glendale Middle School were gathering in the area intending to fight,” the news release said. “Officers arrived on scene and began to disperse the crowd. The initial officers were surrounded by the group of kids, more officers were summoned and the kids fled.”

Two students were detained and taken to Youth Detention for resisting and inciting a riot, the news release said.

No one was injured in the course of the incident, officials said.
