WASATCH COUNTY, Utah, Feb. 10, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A man and his teenage son were rescued Saturday night after they became stranded in the snow in the Wasatch back country.
Wasatch County Search and Rescue posted on Facebook that the 62-year-old man and his 14-year-old son were snowmobiling in the Clyde Creek area near Strawberry Reservoir when they became stuck.
“They were unable to free up the Snowmobiles so they decided to hike to the road. The snow was chest deep so they decided to stop and build a fire (good job) and called 911,” the post states.
Wasatch SAR teams headed out to Clyde Creek to begin searching, and the father and son were quickly located with the help of GPS coordinates from their 911 call.
According to the post, new snow in the parking lot was about a foot deep, with blizzard conditions.
