RIVERTON, Utah, Dec. 10, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Two teenagers were arrested after allegedly stealing a car at gunpoint from a resident of an apartment complex in Riverton Tuesday afternoon.

Riverton Police Commander Ryan Shosted told Gephardt Daily the incident began at Monarch Meadows Apartments at 13469 Dragonfly Lane at approximately 2:20 p.m.

The juveniles pulled a gun on a resident of the apartment complex and demanded the keys to that person’s car as well as an unknown sum of money.

The two then fled in that vehicle, but collided with a truck a short distance away, Shosted said. It’s not clear whether the person in the truck was injured.

The teens then fled on foot and a containment was set up. They were located and taken into custody without incident, Shosted added.

The gun that was used in the carjacking was recovered.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
