WEST JORDAN, Utah, April 7, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Two juveniles were taken into custody late Thursday night after they lost control of the car police say they stole out of the VASA Fitness parking lot.
West Jordan Police Sgt. James Kangas said the youths, both 17 years old, were runaways from West Jordan. As they were driving northbound on Bangerter Highway at about 10:30 p.m., a friend of the vehicle’s owner spotted the car and began to follow it.
Kangas told Gephardt Daily that apparently the youths realized they were being followed and sped up, losing control of the vehicle and crashing at about 7000 South on Bangerter, where they hit the wall.
The driver of the car was transported to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Kangas said the driver had a broken leg. The other youth was transported to juvenile detention.
