MOAB, Utah, Sept. 3, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Two women were killed Friday afternoon in Southern Utah when the off-road utility vehicle they were in caught fire in the Sandflats Recreation area just east of Moab.
The Grand County Sheriff’s Office told Gephardt Daily first responders were called to the outback obstacle course called Hell’s Revenge Trail just before 4 p.m. with reports of a vehicle fire.
When rescue teams arrived, they found a Polaris Ranger UTV fully engulfed in flames.
Two women inside the vehicle were dead at the scene.
The victims have been identified as Destiny Dixon, 28, of Prescott, Ariz., and Debbie Swann, 51, of Apache Junction, Ariz.
Members of the Grand County Sheriff’s Office, BLM, Grand County Search and Rescue, and Moab Fire Department responded to the call.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
