TOOELE COUNTY, Utah, April 1, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Two women were transported to University of Utah hospital after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 on Sunday night.
Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Xavier Steck told Gephardt Daily the accident happened at about 8 p.m. The women were in a Mercury Sable heading eastbound on I-80.
As they reached Mile Marker 35, about six miles west of Knolls, the vehicle ran west off the road into the cable barriers. It then came back onto the highway.
Steck said the passenger, who is about two months pregnant, complained of pain and was LifeFlighted to the hospital as a precaution.
The driver, who complained of back pain, also was transported to the hospital.
Trooper Steck said the accident is still under investigation, but officials suspect the cause was drowsy driving.
