ROCKVILLE, Utah, June 25, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A 20-year-old man was killed Monday when he crashed his bicycle near Springdale.

Springdale Police Officer Britt Ballard told Gephardt Daily Bryce Hagenson was reported missing by his mother at approximately 6:45 p.m. Monday.

Hagenson had left their home in Rockville at approximately 10 a.m. and had been gone all day, the mother reported.

Police began an investigation, and around 45 minutes later, a citizen called 911 to report he was walking along Grafton Road and reported seeing someone lying face down in an irrigation ditch.

Officials arrived and identified that person as Hagenson. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ballard said Hagenson was riding down a steep road when he missed a very sharp turn at the bottom and continued straight into the irrigation ditch. It does not appear at that any other vehicles were involved, though Ballard said at this stage officials cannot unequivocally say that.

Ballard added that at this time it appears the incident was a “tragic accident.”

Officials said the victim was not wearing a helmet.

His exact cause of death is under investigation.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
