21-year-old man reported missing in water at Provo Canyon dam

UTAH COUNTY, Utah, July 27, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah County Sheriff’s deputies, Search and Rescue, North Fork Fire and Sundance Fire crews responded Saturday to Olmstead Diversion dam in Provo Canyon, where a 21-year-old man was reported missing in the water.

The dam is near mile marker 11 on U.S. Highway 189.

Sgt. Spencer Cannon, with the Sheriff’s Office, told Gephardt Daily the call reporting the missing man came in at about 5:35 p.m.

The young man was reportedly swimming in an area about a mile above Battle Creek Falls.

“He jumped from the bridge there and didn’t come up from the water,” Cannon said.
