OREM, Utah, April, 4, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — More than 22,000 customers went without power Sunday night in Utah County due to a downed power line in Provo Canyon.
Rocky Mountain Power spokesperson Dave Eskelsen said the power line that was down was just south of the Hale substation at the mouth of Provo Canyon.
“That substation is a major interconnection point for several cities,” Eskelsen said. “The circuit breaker at the substation tripped, causing the widespread outage.”
The three-hour outage affected residents in Orem, Provo and Lindon in the zip codes of 84057, 84058 and 84059. Power was restored just before 9 p.m. Sunday night.
