PANGUITCH, Utah, Feb. 28, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A 3.6 magnitude earthquake shook the Panguitch area Wednesday morning.

The United States Geological Survey said on its website the earthquake happened about 12 miles south southwest of Panguitch just after 7:10 a.m.

No one was injured, the USGS said, and there were no reports of property damage.

The USGS website says earthquakes with magnitude of about 2.0 or less are usually called microearthquakes; they are not commonly felt by people and are generally recorded only on local seismographs. Events with magnitudes of about 4.5 or greater — there are several thousand such shocks annually — are strong enough to be recorded by sensitive seismographs all over the world.
