BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah, June 19, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Three people are dead and one was hospitalized after an early morning accident in Box Elder County.

The lone survivor has been identified as Cherie Ann Collyer, 39, of Perry.

The Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office was notified at about 2 a.m. Monday after the caller found an injured female, Collyer, sitting on the road at 8300 N. 6800 West. She was able to tell first responders that there were three other people in an SUV that had left the road and gone into a canal.

The red 1997 Pathfinder was traveling north with four occupants, two males and two females of undisclosed ages, the vehicle left the roadway, reportedly due to over-correction, and the SUV rolled, according to a Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office news release.

None of the occupants were wearing seat belts, and all were ejected, the statement says. The two males were found dead near the vehicle, and a deceased female was located about 1.25 miles downstream in the canal.

Alcohol is being investigated as a possible factor in the accident.

Collyer was transported to Bear River Valley Hospital and later flown to McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden. Her condition was not revealed.

An investigation is underway. No other names will be released until all notifications can be made to families of the victims.
