ST. GEORGE, Utah, April 29, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Three people have died as a result of a single-vehicle rollover crash Saturday morning on state Route 18 in St. George.
According to a news release from Utah Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at about 11 a.m. when a gray 2003 Dodge Durango was heading southbound on SR-18
Near milepost 7, the driver drifted to the left and then pulled sharply to the right, causing the Durango to go off the road and into the dirt and rocks. The vehicle then slid sideways and rolled once, landing on its wheels, facing east.
The driver and two passengers in the rear were ejected when the vehicle rolled. A front passenger was wearing a seat belt and had a minor injury.
The driver and the rear passengers were not wearing seat belts.
According to the release, the driver, Micheal James, 21, of St. George, and a rear passenger, Jason Fahsel, 26, died at the scene.
The other rear passenger, Timothy Fahsel, 22, of St. George, was flown by helicopter to Dixie Regional Medical, where he died.
Officials say the four young men had been camping in Baker the night before and were traveling back to St. George. Family members have been notified.
St. George Police and Utah Department of Transportation assisted UHP. The investigation is ongoing, the release states, and speed is being investigated as a factor.
