At about 5:35 p.m., the northbound vehicle went out of control and rolled multiple times, according to Grand County EMS on Facebook.

Three people were in the vehicle, and all three were injured in the crash. One of them, who was not restrained, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered serious injuries.

“All three were transported to Moab Regional Hospital, one in critical condition,” the Grand County EMS post said.

A subsequent news release from Utah Highway Patrol stated, “All three occupants involved in the crash sustained injuries. The vehicle was severely damaged. One of the occupants was reported to be in serious condition and was flown by helicopter to St Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado.”

SR-191 reopened in both directions at about 6:45 p.m.

At last report, the cause of the crash was still under investigation.

“Utah Highway Patrol reminds everyone to conduct safety checks on their vehicles before leaving on a road trip this holiday season,” the UHP news release said. “Make sure all occupants are restrained correctly, limit distractions and make regular rest stops.”
