SPANISH FORK, Utah, July 19, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A 3-year-old boy died Wednesday after a car leaving a driveway struck the child, who was on a low-profile riding toy.

The boy was hit at about 3:06 p.m. near 987 E. 1420 South. He was transported to the hospital in extremely critical condition, and he died there of his injuries.

Spanish Fork Police officials said the death appears to be an accident, and drugs and alcohol were not factors in the case. A witness told officers that theĀ four-door passenger car was backing up slowly when the child rode into its path.

The car’s driver was unhurt, but was distraught, and was taken to a hospital for evaluation, according to reports.

Gephardt Daily will have more information on this story as it becomes available.

  1. The saddest news. So many lives are forever changed in a single moment. My heart goes out to the family and also to the driver. Wishing everyone peace, comfort and strength for the coming days.
