SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, April 16, 2020 (Gephardt Daily) — Residents along the Wasatch Front got off to a shaky start Thursday when a 4.2 aftershock shook the Salt Lake Valley.

According to U.S. Geological Survey, the rather strong tremor struck at 7:41 a.m., rattling doors, windows and not to mention a few nerves.

The quake map shows the tremor was centered 2.4 miles northeast of Magna about 6.2 miles below the Earth’s surface.

Thousands of people felt the aftershock which comes on the heels of another 4.2 magnitude tremor which hit the Wasatch Front Tuesday night.

There were not immediate reports of damage or injuries.

Thursday’s aftershock is a being attributed to the 5.7 magnitude quake which hit the Salt Lake Valley and much of northern Utah the morning of March 18.

Gephardt Daily will update this story as more information becomes available.

  1. It’s amazing that the headline says this quake happened 8 hours ago, when in fact it’s only been 2 hrs & 15 minutes since I was shaken awake by this aftershock. And I’m seeing many Facebook posts recently that are time stamped hours and even days into the future….. I think the Quake of 3-18-20 has shaken us Utahans into an alternative dimension. The NEW REALITY of the Twilight Zone has arrived in our Coronavirus Economy…. What could be NEXT??? .Never mind, I don’t want to know! Cover your faces…. and your butts everyone! This is going to be a bumpy ride, but we WILL get through these trying times together. ??❤☮

  2. I’m wondering if all this is leading up to “the big one” I dont know about anyone else but im scared to death 24/7 I wish they would stop .i live on the 7th floor down town and it shakes real hard .when the 5.7 hit i lost alot of stuff at least no one was hurt . can’t they know if there’s gonna be a bigger one?
