EMERY COUNTY, Utah, June 18, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Four suspects were arrested in Elmo, in Emery County, on Tuesday morning after a routine field check by Adult Probation and Parole agents led to the serving of a search warrant by the county’s drug task force.

According to a news release from the Emery County Sheriff’s Office, agents were checking on probationer Amber Huffmon when they observed drug paraphernalia in the residence.

Hiding in a back room were three other people, the news release says. They “made enough noise to draw the attention of AP&P agents, who then called ECSO Dispatch Center and requested back up from Emery County deputies.”

The Emery County Drug Task Force obtained a search warrant, and officers found “substantial amounts of methamphetamine and heroin along with small amounts of cocaine and marijuana,” the news release states.

Four firearms, a large amount of cash, packaging materials, scales and paraphernalia also were found.

Arrested were Frank Burgess, 41; Travis Heaton, 50; Amber Huffmon, 29; and Brandy Burgess, 38.

They are facing preliminary charges of possession of a firearm by a restricted person, possession with intent to distribute, and paraphernalia.

Other charges may be filed as the investigation is ongoing. Bail has not yet been set.
