DRAPER, Utah, Sept. 20, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A four-vehicle accident Thursday morning in South Jordan looked way worse than it was, in terms of injuries, anyway.

The wreck happened on Interstate 15 at about at about 14400 South.

“It started with a Passat rear-ending the SUV, and that was pushed into two other vehicles,” Sgt. Chad Hecker, Utah Highway Patrol, told Gephardt Daily. The SUV ended up on top of the Passat.

“There’s going to be one female transported to the hospital, just for precautionary reasons,” Hecker said. That woman was in the SUV, which was driven by a man and also had a toddler inside. “The whole family is going with her to the hospital.”

An adult male was driving the Scion Passat, and Hecker was unsure of who was driving the two other vehicles that were hit. No other children were involved, he said, and all injuries were minor.

“To have this much damage to the vehicles, with a baby in there, you’re always happy to have it turn out with minor injuries,” he said, adding that it appears seat belts were worn by all involved.

Clearing the scene involved getting one vehicle off another.

“We’re trying to get this SUV down from the top,” Hecker said at the scene due to “safety concerns for the vehicles going by and the people on scene. We are trying to get it down as safely as possible.”

The scene was clear and traffic was moving normally as of 11 a.m.
