WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Feb. 27, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Four teenagers were taken into custody early Tuesday morning after they caught the attention of West Valley City police by running a red light.
That prompted police to run the vehicle’s plate, and it came back as stolen out of Taylorsville.
It all started at about 2 a.m. near 5600 West and 3500 South, according to Sgt. Jacob Hill, WVCPD.
“We set up an arrest plan, and officers were able to deploy spikes and deflated two of the tires,” Hill said. “They fled down 3800 West. They didn’t make it very far, here to Valley View, about 4300 South. They lost control of the car and went into a snow bank, and all four occupants ran.”
The car was high-centered on the snowbank, and later had to be dug out by officers.
With a containment area set up and a K-9 brought in, all four juveniles — three girls and a boy — were taken into custody without further incident.
None were carrying licenses or identification, so determining their identities would take some time, Hill said at the scene.
But ending the chase took a matter of seconds, he said.
“We had some officers that just happened to be at a good spot, so it all happened pretty quick.”
