NORTH SALT LAKE, Utah, Nov. 20, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was arrested early Monday morning after a six-hour standoff with SWAT teams at a residence in North Salt Lake.

At about 8 p.m. Sunday, authorities were dispatched on a domestic violence call to a home in the area of 350 N. Stamford Drive, North Salt Lake assistant chief of police Troy Johnson told Gephardt Daily.

On arrival, officials learned a woman and two children were sheltering in place because they did not feel that they could safely leave the home, Johnson said. The woman’s husband was also inside the residence, with several firearms, as well as body armor, he added.

SWAT teams from Davis County and Salt Lake City were called to the scene and, approximately six hours later, the woman and the children were safely evacuated from the home.

SWAT teams then entered the home, and the suspect surrendered peacefully and was arrested without incident.

The man’s identity was not immediately released by officials.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information becomes available.
