WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Jan. 31, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A 60-year-old man has died after his car rear-ended a truck on State Route 201 near Interstate 215.

Lt. Todd Royce told Gephardt Daily that both vehicles were eastbound on S.R. 201 and preparing to take the exit ramp leading to I-215.

“One was stopped due to traffic at the off ramp, and the second vehicle hit the first at freeway speeds,” Royce said.

The driver of the truck, which was stuck, suffered only minor injuries and declined treatment, Royce said.

The driver of the car which struck the truck was critically injured, and was transported to Pioneer Hospital in critical condition, Royce said. That victim later died of his injuries.

The name of the 60-year-old victim will be released after his family can be notified, Royce said.

Traffic was delayed while investigators were on the scene of the wreck, Royce said.
